Hello All,

In the May issue of Sig. Proc. Mag., Rick gets mentioned in two
different articles. One is the announcement of his award for best
column. Rick can now buy us all beer. And the other is the review of
his latest book "Streamlining Digital Signal Processing." The reviewer
really loved the book. He also cited Greg Berchen's article as his
personal favorite. So let's all give Rick a big congratulations for
two jobs well done.

Did you notice who wrote the book review? ;)

by the smilie face, i am suspicious that it's someone else we know
here. i dunno, i haven't held an IEEE document of any kind for
years. (and hadn't been a member except briefly as an undergraduate
student in the 70s.)

There are two kinds of engineers (except for Rick), those who can't write
and those who can barely write. I aspire to be included in the latter but
its a struggle.

What everyone knows who contributed a chapter (or who wrote a review), is
that IEEE has editors, including Rick, who can turn a sow's ear into a silk
purse (or in my case, a silk sow's ear).

I struggle to write user manuals, web site content, etc now. I have had an
idea or two that might be a suitable trick, but time is something I don't
have a surplus of.

Speaking of tricks, I really like your sine oscillator method (Chapter 20).
I knew the basic calculation, but not the trick to keep all the numbers in
bounds. I will probably write a SHARC version the next time I need a sine
generator.
