From: VMI on 16 Nov 2005 15:06 Hi, I received a Ross mixer, type RCS2402, in repair. It has been emerged in water and after letting it to dry the guy set it up. Several channels ain't working and a lot of noise. I searched the net for 1/2 hour after Ross but couldn't find a link to the mfg. I wish I can find a schematic and or link to the manufacturer, if it still exists. Any help is very much appreciated. Cheers, Zilog

Ross was one of the low-grade semi-pro manufacturers that made gear sold through MI stores. I believe they were out of Ft. Worth Texas, and I believe most of this gear was actually imported and rebadged by them rather than actually manufactured by them. In any case, like most of the folks in that market, they did not survive Mackie, which really took over MI stores completely in the late eighties. >Any help is very much appreciated. Channels that aren't working are probably due to bad faders or bad insert jacks. Put signal into the input, check to see if there's stuff on each side of the insert jack. Check to see if there's stuff on each side of the fader. Noise is almost certainly the result of either residual water or contamination left over from the water. Flushing it out and redrying it might not be a bad idea, though for the most part this year isn't worth repairing. >Cheers, >Zilog Of Z-80 fame? --scott -- "C'est un Nagra. C'est suisse, et tres, tres precis."

IMC was also the US distributor for Akai and Studiomaster. Akai bought IMC and closed down all the other divisions, selling off Charvel and Jackson to Fender. A lot of the standard audio repair places (Sam Ash, GC, etc.) may still have schematics for the Ross mixers. Harvey Gerst Indian Trail Recording Studio http://www.ITRstudio.com/

Not to hijack, but what's the deal with some Ross stuff, and I'm referring to pedals like their compressor (maybe it was just the compressor), having holy grail status? You say "Ross" in the company of some guitarists and they get all weak at the knees. |
