From: EB on 14 Apr 2008 13:00 I have installed a SATA Philips DVD writer, but there was no connector for sound, so on DVD playback there is no sound. On IDE Units there is the usual connector. How can I get sound on play back?

From: Rich/rerat on 14 Apr 2008 13:24 EB, If there is no sound connector on the drive, then you will need to play music/video through a multimedia player that is on your PC to get sound, such as the DVD player software that came with you unit, MS Media Player, QuickTime, etc... -- Rich/rerat (RRR News) <message rule> <<Previous Text Snipped to Save Bandwidth When Appropriate>> "EB" <ejb7835(a)hotmail.com> wrote in message news:48038db1$0$20200$4c368faf(a)roadrunner.com... The audio connector is no longer needed (See Pen's post). Additionally, if you don't have a software DVD player installed, you might see the DVD attempt to play in WinMediaPlayer but with no sound due to missing codecs. If you don't have a software DVD player/program, you need to locate one. Someone here probably knows of a freebie somewhere. Stew

Why do something the complicated way when an easy and proven method will suffice? http://12.206.251.215/cdaudio/ > If you don't have a software DVD player/program, you need to locate > one. > Someone here probably knows of a freebie somewhere. I'll bet there was one in the box with the drive, unless maybe it was an OEM version. If not, VideoLAN works well. http://www.videolan.org/ William
