From: Vishuonline on 1 Nov 2005 08:49 Hi, I want to develop and app for Handheld Pocket PC; HP Jornada and its precise specification is as follows. Microsoft Pocket PC; Version 3.0.11171; (C)1996-2001 Microsoft Corporation. Processor: ARM SA1110; 63.32 MB. I currently have EVC 4.0 installed and I am able to develop apps for Pocket PCs with WM based 2003 OS and Smart Phones. Now I downloaded the SDK for Handheld Pocket PCs and installed it. Now I am still not able to see the listing of this new platform or platform related options, when I open EVC4.0. Also I remember the help information in EVC4.0 gets updated when it detects a new SDK. Eve this didnt happen when I installed the SDK for handheld PPC. What else do it need to be able to use EVC4.0 to build apps for Handheld PPC?? Regards and TIA,
From: Andrey Yatsyk [eMVP] on 1 Nov 2005 09:33 I think that you can use only eVC 3 for Handheld development. -- Andrey "Vishuonline" <Vishuonline(a)discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:1433E901-BD4C-4BE1-90A0-8C20A16CC152(a)microsoft.com... > Hi, > > I want to develop and app for Handheld Pocket PC; HP Jornada and its > precise > specification is as follows. > Microsoft Pocket PC; Version 3.0.11171; > (C)1996-2001 Microsoft Corporation. > Processor: ARM SA1110; 63.32 MB. > > I currently have EVC 4.0 installed and I am able to develop apps for > PCs with WM based 2003 OS and Smart Phones. From: Chris Tacke, eMVP on 1 Nov 2005 09:48 You must use eVC 3.0 with the HPC 2000 SDK installed -- Chris Tacke Co-founder OpenNETCF.org Are you using the SDF? Let's do a case study. If you give us the model _number_ for your Jornada, at least some of us will be able to find the appropriate info (HP used the name "Jornada" for all their Windows CE handhelds before they bought Compaq, so that name doesn't help much). >specification is as follows. >Microsoft Pocket PC; Version 3.0.11171; If you transcribed this correctly from the About box, then you definitely have some sort of Pocket PC. I can't tell from this whether your Jornada is a Pocket PC or Pocket PC 2002. It is definitely not a Pocket PC 2003 (because the version of the base operating system is 3, not 4). >(C)1996-2001 Microsoft Corporation. The copyright date suggests you have a Pocket PC, not Pocket PC 2002. >Processor: ARM SA1110; 63.32 MB. > >I currently have EVC 4.0 installed and I am able to develop apps for Pocket >PCs with WM based 2003 OS and Smart Phones. You cannot use eVC 4 for either Handheld PC or for the device you have. eVC 4 works only with SDKs for newer devices. You will need eVC 3. If I am right that you have a Pocket PC, then you will need the Pocket PC SDK. It may be called the Pocket PC 2000 SDK. > >Regards and TIA, ----------------------------------------- To reply to me, remove the underscores (_) from my email address (and please indicate which newsgroup and message).
