Prev: Detecting and empty dataset in SqlDataSource
Next: Report that shows Monitors that have Diagnostic tasks defined
From: Michael Anderson on 24 Jun 2008 19:29 We have an Excel 07 workbook with pivottables that read data from a SSAS 05 Cube. We get a couple of error messages initially after we refresh the pivottables and intermittently when we select different pivottable filters. We get the error message "The query did not run, or the database table could not be opened. Check the database server or contact your database administrator. Make sure that the external database is available and hasn't been moved or reorganized, then try the operation again." Next we get another error message that says "Excel was unable to get the necessary information about the cube. The cube might have been reorganized or changed on the server. Contact the OLAP administrator, and if necessary, set up a new data source to connect to the cube". At the moment after the error messages appear, the user can continue to use the filters. These error messages appear intermittently. We've tried changing the various data source connection settings within the Excel workbook. The cube gets refreshed every couple of hours. Could this be an MDX problem? Could this be a security setting? Enough memory on the server? Caching issue? -- Thank You in Advance, Michael Anderson |
