Can anyone here assist with PC-->D500 data transferissues?

I have installed EasyStudio2 (ES2) from the Samsung site.
Installation dialogue boxes seemed to be foreign/weird graphics.
Installation seemed ok except for 'installer error' message right at the
end.

I have also installed ES1 to compare.

ES1 sees D500 and autoloads all SIM data.
ES1 allows IMAGE/MMF uploads to phone but not MP3.
Connection aborts random seconds into transfer, phone reboots and
'timed-out' error message.
[As if it fills some kind of buffer then can't get through - phone com port
not open/enabled?]

ES2 sees D500 but does NOT 'load all' (or any) - Blue transfer box waits at
0%.
File manager partially works. No MP3 upload (same symptom as ES1)

USB cable bought from same source as phone and is marked as GS108-D500.

Any assistance gratefully recd.

*I will be going down Bluetooth road eventually but until payday need USB
transfer working! :+/
