Scanner with shallow depth of field I'm looking for a scanner with a shallow depth of field. Objects 1/4 inch away and further from the top glass surface need to be completely out of focus. The desired focal plane would be about 1/8th inch away. The application is to acquire images of crystals formed in a solution held in a small tube placed on t... 7 Sep 2007 07:13

Flatbed scanner a dying breed? I've noticed browsing thru retail stores like BestBuy, Circuit City and CompUSA that flatbed scanners are nearly impossible to find nowadays. At least in my area. The trend seems to be towards all-in-one machines, i.e. printer, scanner and fax. ... 1 Sep 2007 08:11
Epson V750 fluid mount vs Coolscan V Which of the above would produce the best results with 35mm slides and negatives?? I gather that fluid mounting is good but against that is the longer light path and more bounces in the flatbed V750. Is this correct and if so which should I go for?? ... 30 Aug 2007 17:11

How good is Digital ICE for photo prints I'm using a Nikon Coolscan V with Digital ICE for negatives and slides. It works remarkably well for negatives, particularly. There are a few flatbed scanners that have Digital ICE for photo prints, and I'm wondering if that is a particularly important feature. The Epson 4990 has this feature and with the current... 29 Aug 2007 08:54

If you have ever seen your Nikon CoolScan rapid blinking during start- up and the NikonScan application not seeing your device; then your slide scanner needs some TLC (maintenance). I took a real dog Nikon Coolscan that wouldn't budge and brought it back to life; slow blinks (about 1 per second) during boot. This... 13 Sep 2007 07:57
Visioneer 7300 and USB The Visioneer 7300 is a bus powered USB scanner, so no power cable is necessary. Does this type of scanner use more system resources than a traditional flatbed scanner? MI5 Persecution: Capital Radio (11/April/1997) (4402) Capital Radio (11/April/1997) Certainty level: 10% A nice easy one here. The DJ is heard to say (around 8.30pm); "Jacko in town, what a gig it's going to be, that guy is amazing, and psychotic, but amazing on stage, 0171-420-0958, on stage he's a madman but he's wonderful" I was listening to Capital lou... 25 Aug 2007 08:01
MI5 Persecution: GLR: David Hepworth (9/May/1997) (3179) GLR-David Hepworth (9/May/1997) Certainty level: 100% This time I deliberately listened to Hepworth with the sound turned up on the radio, to try to get a reaction. Sure enough, he and his cronies reacted; David: "we have executive drivetime, and we have Brian in charge of the prize cupboard. Brian it's n... 25 Aug 2007 07:14 |
