Does Anyone Know What "Hardware Scanning Resolution" Means Does anyone know what "Hardware Scanning Resolution" means in the HP Scanner descriptions? For example, the G4050 is "4800 x 4800" and "9600 x 4800 Hardware Scanning Resolution". I've searched the 'Net and can't find anything other than repeats of the phrase. It's not "interpolated" or "enhanced" resolution. Bo... 14 Jan 2008 08:04

Large Negs Just got a Coolscan 9000 ED, and am having trouble scanning my old ~6.5 x 11 cm negatives. The 6x7 max seems built into the software, but that cuts the image off at about 2/3. Does it need the panoramic holder? or can I do it going through another program, eg photoshop? tia ... 11 Jan 2008 03:51
Cheaper way to get an ADF scanner's insides cleaned? I purchased a Fujitsu 5750c scanner off lease, but unfortunately the ADF colour scans have stripes in them, which is going to be a sign of internal dirt, or if I'm unlucky, bad pixels. Fujitsu itself will clean it, but at a cost of about $500(!). That makes sense if you buy one of these new for $4,000 but not i... 16 Jan 2008 19:47
Old HP5370C Scanner on new PC some time ago, I bought a new PC with Win XP (had still Win 98 on the old machine). My old HP5370C Scanner works well with it, using software and drivers available on the HP website (sj666ge.exe und sj700ge.exe, HP Precision Scan Pro). I did not use the Photo Negative function on the new machine so far, and now... 10 Jan 2008 16:52
Epson v750 for print scanning I hope to buy an Epson scanner soon to use mainly for scanning old photos. Should I buy the expensive V750? It has two features which the cheaper Epson scanners don't have. Is it worth paying the extra for these?? The features I refer to are: 1. Hi Pass Optical System 2. Dmax of 4 instead of 3.2 The ... 21 Jan 2008 08:23
You're Help/Advice Please re Scanner for Slides and Negatives I have a collection of about 3000 slides. Most (Kodak Ektachrome) are still looking great even though they are 20-30 years old. Some (cheap, no-name slide film) are gone forever. I want to make digital copies to 'freeze' the ones that are fine now rather than risk their loss. The slides are in a variety of moun... 21 Jan 2008 22:55
Nikon Coolscan V Refurbished I have my mind set on a Nikon Coolscan V slide scanner, and used they are around $450, new between $550 (Newegg) and $600. Adorama has some refurbished by Nikon for $450 also. Used, well, you never know how used it is unless the seller is really truthful. With the refurbished unit, I'd be afraid to get a 2 ... 7 Jan 2008 07:07
Canon N1220u USB connector I picked up this scanner at a garage sale, and it came with USB "A" cable. But the cable won't plug into the back of the scanner. There is some sort of connector in the back, and it's a little recessed into the cabinet. My guess is that there's an adapter clip that slides onto this connector, and turns it int... 6 Jan 2008 10:37
Auto-crop for print scanning I'm planning to scan a large set (hundreds) of old prints. Is there any software that can automatically crop around the edges of prints to divide them into files? Ideally, it would allow me to scan prints in batches. The prints are 30 years old and quite a variety of different sizes, so I can't just use a feeder. ... 4 Jan 2008 08:19 |
