strange string appended to every sendmail command -- how can I fix?
Hi. I am not sure what is going on -- I am using sendmail under Debian and I am getting the following strange thing -- for instance here is a line which should be the hello command. 220 ;; ESMTP connection timed out; no servers could be reached Sendmail 8.13.8/8.13.8/Debian-3; Tue, 24 Jun 2008 05:49:47 -0500; (N... 24 Jun 2008 11:16
sendmail not checking mx record for subdomain
I'm running FreeBSD 6.2 with sendmail 8.14.3 We have a domain in the local configuration, such as domain.com, in the access file. It is allowed to receive and send mail. This part works great. Then we have a subdomain, such as sub.domain.com which has a different, remote, mx record. The email being sent to use... 26 Jun 2008 13:35

I am trying to use msmtp to use a different but legitimate from address and host. in the system wide configuration I am have defined a host, domain, and a from address. Also, in my relay-domain file I have specified 127.0.0.1 and the configured IP address of the local mail server. When I attempt to send mail usi... 24 Jun 2008 07:10
adding custom header on all outgoing mail
Is there a way I can add a header item to all outgoing mail? What I'd like to do is add a header item that is a hash of the senders email address and some secret word or phrase that is only known on the system. Just a little means to help limit backscattered NDN's. I can set up procmail rules to look for these o... 24 Jun 2008 12:18
client_options don't seam to work
Hi all! I've got a box with several aliased ips.. right now, sendmail is using the first ip for eth1: a.b.c.d and I need to get sendmail to use a.b.c.e when talking to other servers (outgoing connections) I'm trying to get sendmail to use an aliased IP when acting as a client like so: CLIENT_OPTIONS(`Family=... 23 Jun 2008 18:54
configuration file location
Hi In the configuration readme it says to do: m4 ${CFDIR}/m4/cf.m4 config.mc > config.cf but (unless I'm being stupid) it seems to have been deemed too obvious to say where to put the resulting file. sendmail(8) says that -C specifies to use an alternate file, but doesn't say which file or files are use... 23 Jun 2008 17:53

Mail goes to MX record that it shouldn't..
I am running Slackware 12.0 sendmail 8.14.1 on two servers 'mail1' and 'mail2'. My intention was that 'mail2' would be a backup server for 'mail1' that should only get mail sent to it if the primary mail server 'mail1' was down. So I have 2 MX records my DNS configuration: IN MX 1 mail1.mydomain. ... 22 Jun 2008 23:26
How do I run a program for any/all possible email address at my domain? (Probably dumb question)
