I was just wondering if there is any other way of showing non-working time on
the Gantt Chart without having to put the bottom tier into days?

Gary,
Well.... yes. What exactly do you want to do? When the bottom tier
resolution is less than days, (i.e. weeks or greater), it becomes pretty
difficult to show "standard" non-working time (i.e. weekends). However,
if there are chunks of non-working time that have significant duration
(e.g. a whole week or month), then those will show up when the bottom
tier is set to larger timescale increments.
