You have to make an online 'request' to a suitable Shuttle vendor who will, presumably, make your order on demand. It's a good start, but could be much better...

It's a great opportunity, Vista machines are so wasteful with resources; for most peoples' use browsing the Internet, receiving and sending emails, writing a few letters, Linux machines could provide a much faster and more secure solution. I'm not sure whether there's a legal solution to playing dvds?

Sorry, not really sure what you mean, I remember installing Suse 10? and finding you couldn't actually play commercial DVDs (thats what I meant) without downloading some program from another site: it couldn't legally ISTR be included with the distro, I don't know whether the situation has changed?

However you can watch commercial DVDs on linux with libdvdcss but again Suse probably wouldn't want to include it in their distribuation as it was created by reverse-engineering methods which are illegal (I believe) in North America. Here in good ol' blighty there's nothing illegal about watching a DVD on linux using libdvdcss providing it's a legal copy of the DVD, at least nothing has been tested in court yet. Again, IANAL and I don't use Suse. -- Geoff |
