I have a SQL Server 2000 NOT USING RS2000.
I installed SQL Server 2005 Database Services and Reporting Services
side-by-side with my SLQ200 installation. My SQL2005 is a named instance.
I selected the configure manually at the Reporting Services setup.
Everything went smoothly.
When I go and try to configure RS, I use my Default Web Site to create the
Virtual Directories. it is ok so far.

The problem I have is when I click Apply at the Database configuration...
I use my 2005 named instance to create the DB. It goes well but when I
click apply, I get a message saying that the Virtual must first be created...
it is created!

Maybe it is because, a step earlier, the Web Service is suppose to show me
the ASP.NET Account but that textbox is empty and grayed out. I have done a
aspnet_regiis -i but it did not work.
My ASP.NET user exist and I have put it in the WebServiceReportingServices
group myself thinking that would fix my problem but it did not.
I have framework 2 installed, my default WebSite is not using anonymous, I
use an admin user, etc...

What is the problem? I have done other installation and they went ok and I
can see the ASP.NET Service Account textbox with correct information.

Hi Joe,
To narrow down this issue, I appreciate if you could first answer me some
questions:
1. What is the result if you delete the existing web sites for report
server from IIS Manager and then re-create the Report Server Virtual
Directory and Report Manager Virtual Directory from Reporting Services
Configuration Manager?
Please first click the New... button to create the virtual directory
and then click Apply button to apply settings.

2. What is the version of your Windows OS? 32-bit or 64-bit?

3. Did you enable ASP.NET on your IIS?
Run inetmgr.exe, select Web Service Extension, and check if ASP.NET
v2.0.50727 (32-bit) is allowed.

4. What is the result if you explicitly change your report server's
application pool's Identity to a domain user account?
You can expand the Application Pools folder in your IIS manager, right
click ReportServer, click Properties, switch to the Identity, check
Configurable, and input a domain user account that has permission to access
your ReportServer database in your SQL Server 2005 instance.

Look forward to your response. If you have any other questions or concerns,
please feel free to let me know.

Best regards,
Charles Wang

Charles, I gave up before I got your post. Admin guys already put the server
back to its original state.... I will install RS on Windows 2003 with IIS6.0,
should be ok.
To answer your question 1 and 2,
1-I did
2-32 bit
3-Where the heck is that on IIS5.0 ?
4-Where the heck is that on IIS5.0 ?

Thanks anyway.

Hi Joe,
Sorry I thought that you were using IIS 6.0. My suggestion was for IIS 6.0.

If you are using IIS 5.0, you can configure your reporting server to use a
domain account according to this article:
How to: Configure Service Accounts (Reporting Services Configuration)
