From: Joe McGuire on 10 Mar 2008 12:01 Prior to a recent hard reset with my new VZW XV6800 (WM6 w/ Office Mobile 6 or so) I had a signature added automatically to my outgoing e-mails. Now I can't figure out how to get this function back. Does anybody know how to do this? And when I send e-mail (I assume the device is actually sing OL Mobile) is it going out as text, html or what? And do I have (or want?) any control over that? Thanks!
From: Joe McGuire on 10 Mar 2008 13:48 Wait! I got the answer. In Outlook Mobile click/tap Menu, Tools, Options. Select Signatures. Enter the desired signature and check the boxes as appropriate and OK your way out. I knew it was easy! From: "Werner "Menneisyys" Ruotsalainen [MVP - Windows - Mobile Devices]" on 10 Mar 2008 16:52 BTW, should any of you have similar problems with ANY e-mail client out there (not just messaging), just take a look at the "Signature" row of the main chart ( http://www.winmobiletech.com/022006MailerClients/MailerCompChart.html ) of my Mailer Bible ( http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/index.php?blog=3&p=569&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1 ); it has mini-tutorials on setting up the signature (and everything else mailing-related you can think of). -- -- Werner "Menneisyys" Ruotsalainen - Microsoft MVP - Windows - Mobile Devices Please see the Pocket PC Mag Expert Blog (including mine) at http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/ - you will definitely like it. From: Joe McGuire on 11 Mar 2008 04:18 I am pretty much figuring this stuff out (crudely) as I go. I assume my XV6800 is using Outlook Mobile for mail but I really can't tell. However, one obvious difference compared with OL 2003 is that I have very little flexibility in formatting. Even really primitive stuff like fonts, bold, underline. I don't do fancy stuff, like logos, pictures, graphics etc. And it seems to take hours until the mail I send actually shows up in the Sent Items folder, where there is no way to figure out to whom it was sent without opening it. It's great to know that everything in the Sent folder was sent by, oh surprise: by me! Duh. I read that there are some technical reasons why MS can't get the folder to show your addressee as OL does. That's like telling me exactly why my flight will not be taking off. I appreciate the info, but it skips over the fact that the point was to be on that flight in the air! Is some other e-mail program better? Probably. On the other hand, it is pretty critical that my e-mail on the device sync with my desktop system--or with an exchange server if we ever get one for our firm. Hence the feeling that I am inexorably tied to Microsoft if I want any semblance of "convergence." And semblance is probably the right word. There is a wide gulf between what Microsoft seems to promise through WM6/Office Mobile 6 and the reality. On the other hand, I have generally been impressed with what the phone can do and try not to focus on how the phone is not yet a decent substitute for my desktop. As far as I can tell it beats the hell out of my partners' Blackberries (although I think my niece who works for Telus has a Blackberry that does whatever my device can do.). I appreciate your referring me to these sources. I need all the help I can get. But I think that stuff is way over my head. For example, I have no idea what IMAP means and whether it is something I need to know about. I believe our firm's e-mail goes through a POP3 server. Am I free to use IMAP on it if I choose? Do I want to? Dunno. Headers? I for 'em if you're for 'em. But I have no idea why it matters. I think OL 2003 has headers available somewhere for e-mail and I have occasionally looked one up where I suspected spam or something malicious. Talk about googledygook! Thanks again!
