From: Tim Peach on 3 Feb 2006 10:55 Hey, everyone. I'm hoping this is a simple request to an army of clever people. A client of mine requested a scrolling news text block on his homepage, and I managed to aquire a little Java thing that, sure enough, scrolls some html text headlines up a little pre-defined window, including rollover clicks to the articles in question. Cool. EXCEPT that the client is now saying that many of their clients don't have Java activated and just get a red cross on screen. Obviously people can just turn Java enabling on, but my client's fair point is that it doesn't look good for a first impresion. Is there a still simpler way of doing this ? or how do I turn off the Java bit that creates links, so we just get scrolling text. Is there a reeeeeally easy way of doing this? Many many thanks. I learn something ? often obvious and simple ? every time I drop into the Dreamweaver forum. Momo Tim
From: clubjunkie on 3 Feb 2006 10:58 i have come across many different scrollers, but they are all java based. i see his point but WHO doesn't have basic java enabled? it's only when you leave it wide open that you're in toruble, and default settings are safe enough. That said, he's the boss, but in my experience (limited, granted) its java all the way.

From: Murray *TMM* on 3 Feb 2006 11:03 Good grief. > but they are all java based I certainly hope not. > his point but WHO doesn't have basic java enabled? You are confusing Java with javascript. It's a common mistake among new developers. Please don't do that - make sure you understand the difference. -- Murray --- ICQ 71997575 Team Macromedia Volunteer for Dreamweaver (If you *MUST* email me, don't LAUGH when you do so!) ================== http://www.dreamweavermx-templates.com - Template Triage! http://www.projectseven.com/go - DW FAQs, Tutorials & Resources http://www.dwfaq.com - DW FAQs, Tutorials & Resources http://www.macromedia.com/support/search/ - Macromedia (MM) Technotes ================== "clubjunkie" <webforumsuser(a)macromedia.com> wrote in message news:drvujp$8s3$1(a)forums.macromedia.com... >i have come across many different scrollers, but they are all java based. i >see > his point but WHO doesn't have basic java enabled? it's only when you > leave it > wide open that you're in toruble, and default settings are safe enough. > That > said, he's the boss, but in my experience (limited, granted) its java all > the > way. >
