Hi

I had to upgrade my modem router 4 port hub with firewall as the old
one died .... it was quite old ....

so as the old one was a netgear dg814, i went for the netgear DG834G
but i find that it takes an app several seconds to open an ads
database...

i am sure there is a reasonable explanation - and a setting to fix it.

any ideas anyone ?

Richard,

You don't say if the ADS files are external or internal and whether you are
connecting with wifi.

Use ARC...try to connect. Is this fast? If yes, open a table. If that
takes too long, close ARC, limit the packet size ([1]) and try it again.
If connecting is slow, bypass discovery with LAN_IP/LAN_PORT settings
([2]).

[1]
in ads.ini add following line(s)
[SETTINGS]
PACKET_SIZE=512 ; Default 1450 for IP

[2]
in ads.ini add following line(s)
[myServer] ; use your server's name
LAN_IP=192.168.1.1 ; use your server's IP
LAN_PORT=6262 ; use the port you've setup in ads cfg, not 0!
