Jumpstart Solaris10 with 100Mbit FullDuplex in a Cisco environment
Hi, I had to jumpstart a v210 and a v440 in an environment with Cisco Switches where all the ports are configured on 100 FDX with no autonegotiation. Googling I found that there seems to be the possibility to do something like boot net:dhcp, duplex=full however I told me on the 210 that it didn't understand the... 20 Jun 2008 11:12

Hello, I am fairly new to Solaris (was on Linux before) but anyway I tried to install SunStudio 12. Prepare went well but when I ran install script: ../batch_installer -p all --accept-sla or even GUI installation: ../installer & there was following report displayed: Installation failed: insufficient... 20 Jun 2008 13:16
Resetting password on multiple servers
I would like to write a Korn shell script that reads from a list of servers and for each server, executes a remote shell command that resets a user's password. However, I want to know if there might be another way to do this instead of rsh because I think that for security reasons, all the Berkely commands have bee... 20 Jun 2008 12:14
Solaris 10/Powerpath and a CX700
I am running Solaris 10 11/06 on a V480; I am converting the configuration from using MPxIO to Powerpath 4.5. I have disabled MPXio and installed PP. My PP psuedo devices are configured and I get pseudo devices appearing in the "format" list as well as the regular Solaris devices (perhaps 6 times as many) ... 19 Jun 2008 18:51

Problem solved
Indeed, problem was that user svctag wasn't able to login. With the finish script I change the root home dir from / to /root and make a chmod 700 on /root. I changed it to 755 and everything went fine. The home dir from svctag is also /root. I don't understand why? For "user" lp, daemon or sys the home d... 19 Jun 2008 18:51
Deleted memory not returned to the memory manager (C++)
Michael Vilain <vilain(a)NOspamcop.net> writes in comp.unix.solaris: |Some time ago, Solaris' memory manager was changed so that memory that's |been malloc'ed won't get free'ed until you actually quit the |application. Bullshit. Memory that is free'ed is returned to the application heap for reuse by future mal... 19 Jun 2008 19:53
Removing an EFI disk label
I have removed a Sun-supplied 72GB SAS disk (c0t1d0) from our T2000's zpool, so I can use it as a mirror for the Sun-supplied 72GB system disk (c0t0d0). However, somehow the now-spare disk seems to have got an EFI label and not a VTOC one. This is causing the format program to report the slice sizes quite di... 20 Jun 2008 03:02
Solaris 10: How can I get a date that is exactly 30 days back?
I am unable to do this - I used to use a variation of the following command to get a date that is a few hours back: TZ=GMT+6 date '+%y%m%d%H%M' But I think this has its limits - what is the best way I can get a date that is x number of days back? Thanks, Anoop ... 21 Jun 2008 01:34
