From: tommylux on 7 May 2008 15:30 After buying the Nokia n95, I have never used my Ipaq since. What could I possibly use it for now, does anyone have any suggestions? I was thinking, wouldnÂ’t it be cool if I could use it as a second monitor display, (or a customable page) which could display stats of a game, example; world of warcraft. Or with the same concept, utilising the touch screen which controls music, on my PC whilst im gaming. I guess I donÂ’t know what im looking for, but im just keen on utilising my ipaq as some kind of remote/ or display for my PC. Cheers

From: ker_01 on 16 May 2008 14:25 Without knowing your model number (version of WinMobile), this may not apply- but here are some random thoughts. (1) I believe there is remote desktop software you can get for some PPCs. That might give you remote control of the overall desktop from a distance, but assumes your PPC has wireless or bluetooth connectivity to a network that would allow control. It sounds like you are more interested in "local" (hardwire connected) control, and while there may be apps out there (Werner? Beverly? Anyone?) I'm not familiar with them. (2) for real-time interactivity with your PC (hardwired) and particularly with existing software like WoW, you would probably have to program it yourself. Be prepared to use at least visual studio 2003 pro, 2005 pro, or the newly released 2008 pro. The (free) express editions don't include the PPC programming components. On top of programming the PPC, you'd also need to figure out how to scrape the WoW information of interest on the desktop, perhaps using a packet sniffer like Ethereal, although I don't believe that Ethereal allows a live connection to dump the packet data to another app, so you might have to buy a packet sniffer or get creative in your programming. (3) You can use your PPC as a standalone touchscreen music player, if you are willing to download your music to the PPC. I like MortPlayer a lot on my Ipaq2215, but I'm sure there are other good options out there. Cheers --- reply below --- I use PCAnywhere to control my desktop computer from an iPAQ. I think it cost me about $200 so it isn't the cheapest remote control program out there. If I use the internet from my PPC/phone via BT PAN I don't even have to be connect to my home network to control my home computer.

TCPMP does- I can browse network shares in the "Open File" dialog and play songs or video from them on the PPC over WiFi without copying them first. There's nothing like using a $400 PPC to emulate a $4 transistor radio! ;-)
