I'm not sure I'm yet willing to give up a very stable Win 2000 installation, (DAW dedicated). I HOPE this is wrong info. maestro
From: Martin Schiff on 8 Sep 2005 10:53 If you check the fine print, you'll see that the "recommended" is a 64 bit machine. I'm not sure why you're concerned. Your machine is well above the requirements for both (except that it is not a 64 bit machine). I'm sure it will run very nicely on your machine, just as I'm sure it will run nicely on my 2 Ghz Athlon with 1 gig of ram. -- Martin "Phoenix" <gtr_phoenix(a)killerrabbit.verizon.net> wrote in message news:C1LTe.14$252.6(a)trndny05... > So "minimum" means "it will run, but--" and "recommended" means it will > run well (aside from the inevitable bumps in the road)? > > "Martin Schiff" <martin(a)stevegoldman.comDA-DE-DANospam> wrote in message > news:89ydnYJPx8r11oLeRVn-3A(a)fdn.com... >> The requirement is a 1.3 Ghz P4. From: Martin Schiff on 8 Sep 2005 10:54 Gary, I hadn't noticed the XP requirement. Guess I'll have to upgrade as well. I've already got the XP Pro for it, but was in the same boat as you with a VERY stable W2K environment. Guess I'll try installing it first. -- Martin "Gary Evans" <maestro(a)onemansband.ca> wrote in message news:Jo2dnYWXLrkSA4LeRVn-gQ(a)rogers.com... > Frank L wrote: >> Hi, >> Presently Sonar 4 Producer (also own Sonar 4 Studio, I upgraded way back >> for $99)My DAW at home is high end, no problems their, but for live stuff >> (2 or 3 times a month), one man band, (man I hate that term)I use my >> laptop, Dell inspiron 8100 PIII 1gz, tons RAM with echo Indigo Card for >> using SoundF's with Midi files, etc. No problem running S4P or S4S. But it ain't broken ... far from it ...like so many million other Win 2k (big business) installations that MS would love to sell XP into. Maybe Cake feels the hyperthreading, dual core Pentium thingy stuff is a bigger potential market than us Luddites that still actually pluck strings, whack keyboards, bang skins etc. to make the majority of our music. maestro |
