From: Frank L on 7 Sep 2005 09:46 Hi, Presently Sonar 4 Producer (also own Sonar 4 Studio, I upgraded way back for $99)My DAW at home is high end, no problems their, but for live stuff (2 or 3 times a month), one man band, (man I hate that term)I use my laptop, Dell inspiron 8100 PIII 1gz, tons RAM with echo Indigo Card for using SoundF's with Midi files, etc. No problem running S4P or S4S. But even the minimum requirements for SP5 or Studio are more than my processor . 1.3gz they state. So, using only for playback of midi files (sometimes with audio, sometimes with Soundfont sys req really shouldn't matter, correct? Can I install S5P right next to S4P on the laptop? Thanks Frank L
From: Martin Schiff on 7 Sep 2005 10:45 Frank, Every version of Sonar (and Cakewalk Pro Audio for that matter) has been able to coexist with the previous version. For recording 2 tracks though, you should probably be able to use S5 without a problem. -- Martin "Frank L" <frankl6224(a)IHATESPAMadelphia.net> wrote in message news:68CdnV4WSffMcoPeRVn-jA(a)adelphia.com... > Hi, > Presently Sonar 4 Producer (also own Sonar 4 Studio, I upgraded way back > for $99)My DAW at home is high end, no problems their, but for live stuff > (2 or 3 times a month), one man band, (man I hate that term)I use my > laptop, Dell inspiron 8100 PIII 1gz, tons RAM with echo Indigo Card for > using SoundF's with Midi files, etc. No problem running S4P or S4S. From: Phoenix on 7 Sep 2005 14:53 I'm wondering if my P4 3GHZ w/HT will run Sonar 5 comfortably. It's above the "recommended" requirements, but not by that much (I do have 1GB of RAM rather than 512, though). From: Martin Schiff on 7 Sep 2005 16:19 The requirement is a 1.3 Ghz P4. Your machine is WELL above that. -- Martin "Phoenix" <gtr_phoenix(a)planetkrikkiterizon.net> wrote in message news:tGGTe.69$Ef2.33(a)trndny04... > I'm wondering if my P4 3GHZ w/HT will run Sonar 5 comfortably. So "minimum" means "it will run, but--" and "recommended" means it will run well (aside from the inevitable bumps in the road)?
