Just installed S6PE, vanilla install (e.g. did not migrate INI settings),
set up my audio card, brought up a simple project (midi with synths and
audio tracks, no plugs), and started playback.

Got an audio dropout partway through (which is fine, the ASIO buffer is set
too small). However, S6PE has completely frozen with all windows and
shortcut menus on display, that were open when the dropout occurred. :-(
The rest of the system is NOT frozen, just Sonar. Is this what they meant
by improved crash control????

S6PE hasn't been installed 5 minutes and already bad news... {sigh}

Make that two problems... the most significant bug issue I raised in S5, is
still present in S6. This one stopped me from working in Sonar and I had to
switch to Cool Edit to finish. I'm very disappointed.

Out of curiosity,
what is the bug you're talking about, theone that stopped you from working in Sonar?
Was it also present in 4.0.2?

Thanks,

Steve

I didn't run into any problems in this area until S5. I never got an exact
description of the actual bug from Cake, but the symptoms are sudden CPU
climb (e.g. running along at say 10%, then sudden jump to 20%, then 53%,
then 76%) followed by dropout. The audio engine cannot be reset and
although Sonar doesn't crash, nothing works until reboot and try again.
There were some other posters in the Cake forum also posting this problem on
S5. I send a scaled-down project plus the audio files to Cake support, they
confirmed a bug and put it on the list to be fixed. I guess it is still on
the list. :-(

Yes. The new audio engine. That is what stopped me from moving up past 4.0.2
which is still working very well for me.
