From: cybrserf on 17 Jan 2008 09:35 Hello group...sorry to bud in with a silly question but I wonder if someone can help me. I have been trying to download the free update to my HS6XL (version 6.2.2). I have been supposedly granted access to the cakewalk ftp site, but when I try to grab the file by following the link provided by Cakewalk in their confirmatory email entitled: "DL Instructions - SONAR Home Studio 6.2.2 free update", I am asked for my credentials to authenticate my access to the ftp server. Presumably I was to get my credentials in the afore mentioned email...where it implored me to: "Remember, access to free patches and updates is granted only to registered owners of Cakewalk software products, so please do not share your personalized download link or credentials. " Of course, the email comes from noreply(a)cakewalk.com so there is no way for me to ask the obvious: What credentials? There are none that I can see in the entire email...only a link and If I can't log onto the FTP site anonymously, how should I proceed? Anybody have any advice...I only get 3 shots at downloading this puppy and the link expires in 24 more hours (it only last 48 hours)...I've already wasted 2 shots trying obvious stuff like anonymous login or email and product serial number. Frankly, this seems overly complicated for an update that is A) Free, B) of absolutely no use to anyone who does not own the product. <sigh> Thank you in advance for any guidance you may dream up ;-) Cheers, CS
From: Sue Morton on 17 Jan 2008 09:54 It should be the email address and password you use to login to the Cake site, the ones you used when you registered your copy. My guess is it is the same email address Cake used to send you the announcement. -- Sue Morton cybrserf(a)gmail.com wrote: > Hello group...sorry to bud in with a silly question but I wonder if > someone can help me. Select Help, then click on SONAR on the web. This takes you to SONAR 6 - Owners Page. Right under the pic of the box, click on "Click here for the SONAR Home Studio 6 Owners Page." The first thing under the pic of the box is Updates and Patches. Click on the link that says "Follow this link to download the update." Next page, near bottom left, clcik on "SONAR Home Studio 6.2.2 Update" The next page asks for your email address, first & last name and the serial number of your copy of SHS6(XL), then click on Download.

I thought that that was all that was needed to download, but upon further research into my logon folder, I too recieved an email similar to yours. Here's a copy of the email they sent (less link): "You've been granted access to download the free SONAR Home Studio 6.2.2 update. This access has been granted specifically to you. You'll be able to access this patch three times, or for 48 hrs. The file size is 32 MB. Remember, access to free patches and updates is granted only to registered owners of Cakewalk software products, so please do not share your personalized download link or credentials. This update will only install properly if the full retail version of SONAR Home Studio 6 is installed on your computer. Click this link to access the free SONAR Home Studio 6.2.2 update"
