From: jeff loven on 15 Jan 2008 11:15 I need to upgrade my Sonar 3 producer to 7. They have some bundle options being offered--today is (supposedly) the last day to get the bundle w/ UAD-1 card and the plug-ins. Jim Roseberry (putting my new computer now) says their " 1176/LA-2A/Pultec/Plate-140/Neve plug-ins are particularly good" adding "IMO, The UAD1 and the latest generation of Waves (SSL, E-Series, API) are currently the best plug-ins available.FWIW, I like the new generation of Waves plug-ins so well that I sold my pair of UAD1 cards." I was looking at the bundle offers for the SSL, API and v-series--each bundle is around $1000. Boy--they must sound really good.... Any opinions on the UAD plugs from you guys? I have to upgrade today and contact Jim today w/ my info so he can install my Sonar and test the new DAW. (I really shoulda had Jim build this computer five years ago--I can't wait!!!!) Thanx again!!! Jeff
From: Max Arwood on 15 Jan 2008 11:24 I do not have the UAD's but of the Waves (SSL, V-Series, API) the SSL is amazing. They still have GUI problems (you have to click twice to see the GUI). From: Neil Rutman on 15 Jan 2008 12:31 The UAD-1 plugs are exceptional IMO. No other eq/comp-lim plugs that I've used compare. I use at least 1 instance of Plate 140 on nearly everything. I have 2 cards and could definately use at least 1 more so I could have more instances of the Neve eq's. From: Neil Rutman on 15 Jan 2008 19:21 You can use several instances of LA2A/3A, 1176, Cambridge Eq, Pultec Pro, Fairchild, all the Precision plugs and a few others. The Neve stuff, RE201, Nigel you'll definately be wanting 2 cards minimum. Haven't tried Helios yet so don't know about that one and I haven't run into any issues yet with Transient Designer but have only had that for a week or so.
