Okay, for those of you that have the time.
I was searching for an older classical piece that I had recorded back in the
80's. I found it...but, the tape had a couple of other songs on it that I
had completely forgotten about. The first song was "One".
http://www.sonicmusic.net/One_Old.mp3
I was using my Prophet 5, DX7, Minimoog, a Yamaha RX11(?) drum machine, and
a Tascam 4 track cassette recorder.

My synths have been giving me the cold shoulder since I haven't paid them
much attention lately. So....
I foolishly decided to redo the song (and OF knows that's usually not a good
idea....the original just has "something" that just can't be
duplicated)....wait.....was there a midi file?.....nah....this was *way*
before I even knew what one was. Gotta play it by hand one part at a time.
I tried to re-create the stuff I had played over 20 years ago note for
note...including solos....ugh....and the vocals ! ! !
It was tough to clearly hear each part from the crappy cassette tape and it
took me a week just to get close.

On a good note: All my Prophet 5 soundbanks (120 programs) are stored via
cassette tape (sounds like mangled chipmunk garbage). I got tired of going
back and forth loading and unloading banks to try to find the right sounds
for this dang piece. So I did a test: I recorded all the soundfiles off the
cassette into different tracks of Sonar...all appropriately labeled....I
tested them all and they work great! So instead of looking thru the tapes
forever, I have the files right before my eyes.
I need a beer...... Just checkin' to see if yer' still here ;)
