From: Rick Paul on
A few times in the past I've alluded to a recording I couldn't put on-line
due to contractual issues. Well, the album, which is called "ALTARnative
Music: Songs of Christian Faith" and is(on an indie label based out of LA
called Goodnight Kiss Records, is finally available, and there's a 2-minute
clip of each song up on the CD Baby page for the album (it's also in iTunes
already --

or http://tinyurl.com/3rjhjn -- but they only give 30-second clips). The

My track is #10, "Onward, Christian Soldiers".

It was recorded in SONAR V6 back around March or early April of last year.
It was my first time using Chris Hein Guitars, before I figured out how to
use all the various keyswitches, so what is on this is basically just
playing it straight from the keyboard. I also used the Garritan Stradivari
2 and the then-new Garritan Gofriller Cello, as well as the DFH EZX from
Toontrack, and Trilogy for bass. From memory, I think the other parts are
probably B4 and Pro-53.

For anyone who might be interested, I also recounted some of the history of
this, and my interest in the project in the first place, in my latest blog
at:

It's definitely taken awhile for this to get out there, but I have to say I
was very pleased with the album overall, so it was worth the wait.

I just listened to the CD Baby version then the master version off the CD,
it seems like the hi-hat is getting lost in the MP3 compression on the CD
Baby sample if you play the individual song. Their individual song samples
are lo-fi. If you play the broadband version for all songs at the top of
the page, then just skip ahead to the 10th track with the "forward" button
in your media player, you should hear that stuff. (I just checked on my
crappy computer speakers, and it is night and day on the difference.)

In any event, this is the mastered track from the record company
post-manufacturing, so any flaws in it at this point aren't getting fixed.
