AFA the Vocal track itself "Step By Step" seemed to me like it had a bit too much sibilence. "Renovation" was much better in that regard but IMHO it could come out in the mix a tad. That coming from someone known for a preference to bury the vocs :) Oh, when I say a tad I mean a tad, you're very close. Thinking something on the order of a half a dB nudge around 4K. This guy did these in one take? Amazing! ________________ Steve Wilson

It will be fun. We started this weekend to lay down some drums / back vocals. Hope to do some bass and more back vocals next couple of weekends. Max Arwood
From: Rick Paul on 28 Jan 2008 15:03 Both sounded quite good to me. Someone else mentioned a bit of difference in the vocals between the two, and that definitely seems to be the case. Of course, a full mix will change the relative balances of vocals to the rest, but, were it just this level of mix being the final, I might be tempted to add a bit of an aural exciter to the vocal in the second one to help the vocal cut through the mix just slightly better without increasing the volume of the vocal, which I thought was fine. Then again, the volume of the other one sounded fine to me, too, so just bringing the vocal out a bit more might work as well. Just depends on how you like the vocal to sit in the mix. The guy definitely seems to be able to sing. ;-) Rick -- ======================================= Rick Paul Closet Cowboy Music (ASCAP) Web: www.RickPaul.info MySpace: www.myspace.com/rickpaulmusic ======================================= "Max Arwood" <marwoodNOSPAM(a)hnb.com> wrote in message news:%Ygnj.3540$nK5.565(a)nlpi069.nbdc.sbc.com... > Finally got Brian Sherwood back in the studio. Thanks Rick, I put AIPL warm tone on the first one yesterday. I listened to them a little while ago and added it to the second one. It kinda has the effect of and aural exciter, by helping it cut through, but is not as harsh on the top end. Thanks for listening.
