From: JY on 7 Apr 2008 01:31 My Guitar Hero partner sent me this link : http://mtvnews1.com/news/articles/1584695/story1.php It's about the next game in the series ("Record Label", after the popular Guitar Hero and Rock Band franchises). On the surface, it seems pretty mundane. But I was actually a bit surprised by Sony's nonchalance (for lack of a better word) when bringing up the payola, rootkit, and David Manning scandals. If I read this thing correctly, they actually incorporated those scandals as tasks in the game. From the article itself : "(...) whether you're paying off DJs under the table for additional radio play, faking your own artists' album reviews, or simply determining what private information you want the spyware on their CDs to collect for you... we guarantee that you'll be able to experience all the pleasure, satisfaction and unaccountability of being a real-life Sony BMG executive." I realize we live in a Grand Theft Auto world, and that this guy is probably trying to trivialize Sony's various scandals and be funny doing it... but incorporating them as tasks in a new video game? What the... PS: MTV even links to news articles about the scandals in question! Including one that's not even a week old (Sony got busted using pirated software at their head offices). What's the point of even fining Sony anymore? (And what next, a Sony-produced TV movie about them?)

We're not too far from April Fool's Day. Are you sure this article didn't originate in the Onion? Peace, Paul

I thought of that, but it's dated April 7 (today) and it's on MTV's site... could MTV have inadvertantly picked it up from the Onion and only posted it a week later?
