My ISP seems to have this NG turned off and Google groups is hosed so I
looked for another server.

I'm using the eternal-september server now. It works great and they
seem to filter out all of the spam.

Has it ever *not* been hosed? :-)

Not all of the spam is caught, but most of it is, yes. You can add an
additional spamfilter by filtering out posts coming from Google Groups.
Use the message ID as the string to parse for the filter. ;-)

So far I haven't needed to filter out the Google posts. There are a few
legitimate posts from Google. I posted from there recently. I used to
use Google whenever I was posting from work and it always worked OK
then. I'm unemployed now. :-(

They said they'd fixed something a whle back, and just the other day
I found a post from 1997 that I was looking for.

Of course, I didn't look some months ago to see if that particular
messages was findable, but I know there was a period when I was looking
for old messages and I couldn't find them.

By hosed I meant that current messages to this NG were not showing up.
