I created a link and specified the target as "blank" so that a new browser
window opens when the viewer clicks that link. I want to specify the size of
this new window. One goal for example: on a webpage there is a thumbnail
picture that says "click to enlarge", then a new window opens up with the
bigger picture in it, but this new window fits the picture size, and doesn't
take up the whole screen! How can I do this with DW8?

This is a terrific extension which will do what you want:

Thank you for the suggestion .....but.... I am pretty new at web design, and I
am unsure about "extensions" (I have never used them before and don't really
know what they are).

Is there a way to specify new (target: _blank) window size within DW, with the
tools available in DW8?

or if extensions are my only option, can I learn more about what to do with an
"extension" somehow?

Also, I have a java script drop-down menu on my pages as well. Would that
conflict with any "extensions"?

There is really no good way to do this, or at least do it easily, with
DW alone. That is why so many folks use JustSo PictureWindow3 for this
purpose.

I would be happy to help you learn to use Extensions, which would open a
whole new world of possibilities to you, by helping you with Jspw3.
