I'm sure glad nobody has told you two to take this to email,
because this all is so danged interesting. And bringing back memories of
long ago.
Having graduated Yuma back in the 70's, living in Los Banos for a
couple years and all over California for years and years, I know what
you guys are talking about.
Thanks for the memories.

Sorry - I forgot to include an interestingmet site, run out of Victoria
University in Wellington. And may be worth a quick look, if for the pics
alone.

www.metvuw.com

Following on from those quake sites.

You can see photos of their antenna at
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beacon_Mountain . The other antenna there
is owned by the local diocese. I have no idea what they do with it.

Nope, "Linux All-in-One Desk Reference for Dummies, 2nd Edition" by Naba
Barkakati. It's a fairly new book, which is why I took it out. I
already read "Linux for Dummies," but I think the library's copy is
probably a little outdated by now.

Yes, they have a good reputation among the LUG members. The
Poughkeepsie library has some of their books. The only one I own is
"Linux Pocket Guide" (a command-line quick reference), but I refer to it
a lot.

My parents visited Auckland, and all I got were some t-shirts! (And the
knowledge that "kiwi" isn't considered derogatory at all.)
