WD MyBook trouble with long filenames
Recently bought a Western Digital MyBook 500GB external backup drive, and also bought a NEC 5.1 USB 2.0 adapter board, and Adaptec AFW-1394 FireWire PCI card. Have both interface cards working and have done large-file speed tests. Multi-folder transfers using file Win Explorer are failing however, citing `fi... 24 Aug 2008 09:51

Buffalo Terastation Pro II Backup Routines
I've just installed a duo of Terastation Pro II 1TB drives on my small network at my workplace. We are using both Terastations in RAID5 mode, straight out the box. The MAIN Terastation is set to perform a backup at several points throughout the working day and in the evenings to the BACKUP drive, which is used... 20 Aug 2008 22:08
identify this cable for a Dell media card reader
My new Dell machine came with a media card reader in the 3.5" bay which is attached via a cable and socket that I don't recognise. I want to attach the card reader to my desk about 1.5m away from the computer and so want a new cable (but don't want to buy a new USB card reader) as the existing one is too short. S... 19 Aug 2008 14:15

How to duplicate hard drives easily ?
I'm going to replace the hard disk in place in my notebook (Win XP Pro) by a brand new one. I just don't want to waste time in reinstalling OS, apps and restoring all my work files into it. I wonder if there is a possibility to replicate the contents of the operating hard drive into the new hard disk by USB transfe... 18 Aug 2008 23:53
Western digital 250 gb drive no longer seen in windows, weird boot msg
On Sat, 16 Aug 2008 21:05:41 -0700 (PDT), rahejasuresh(a)gmail.com put finger to keyboard and composed: My 250 gb drive has died. Windows no longer sees it at all. During boot I hear 3 repeating beeps (long-short-long), prior to boot. It delays boot process by about a minute. Smart has been enabled now, but it... 5 Sep 2008 21:55
