Next: What is the unsubsidized price for the new 3G iPhone?
From: G.T. on 20 Jun 2008 03:25 10.5.3, fresh install last night and immediately updated to 10.5.3. It's a Mac Pro purchased in Dec of 2007. We have an Xsan volume mounted. On that Xsan volume the user can write from various applications such as FCP to files that already exist, he can create folders via New Folder, and he can copy via Terminal, but he cannot copy via the Finder. I'm completely baffled. Tomorrow I'm going to install Path Finder to confirm that it's a Finder problem. I've deleted the user's Finder plist, to no avail, and it happens to new users on this system, too. At the moment I think this is our only 10.5.3 system. Any other ideas? Thanks, Greg

It would be helpful to know what happens when he tries to copy files. Specifics please. Verbatim error messages would be best. -- Please send all responses to the relevant news group rather than directly to me, as E-mail sent to this address may be devoured by my very hungry SPAM filter. He gets an authentication window, which he shouldn't get since the permissions are RWX for him and the group he's in, when he enters his username and password, he just gets an odd chime from his Mac, the folder in the Finder window opens and closes, and nothing happens. Subsequent attempts don't pop up the authentication window but the same chime, folder animation, and the same lack of copy happens. And as I said, copying from the Terminal works fine. Greg
