On my MS Wireless Internet KB there is a key at the top right, in line with the F keys which says "F Lock". Every time you boot the computer you have to press that key to get the function keys to work. Perhaps you have the same setup as me? Larry

I activated the numlock like this, but it would be handy if the F-lock could be activated also in /etc/kde3/kdm/Xsetup add after #! /bin/sh # Xstartup - run as root before session starts the following /usr/bin/X11/numlockx on -- MarcB

The only solution I can suggest is to buy a later model (maybe from the 4000 series) where the light is on from book, and if you want it off you have to turn it off by hand, which is of course a massive improvement. I'll wait until the next cup of coffee kills my current keyboard as they're 20+ a pop. - -- Regards, Sheridan Hutchinson Sheridan(a)Shezza.org -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.6 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQFHjk4KnBrliHqz8aARAiRdAKDHq9O7OESucjLHyZV7wbdW2rOkmQCgjIoh tmtzr/nVbSoxyvRI/mwPtxw= =Spxx -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
