From: J Mullen on 1 Mar 2005 23:26 Hi, I have a an ME-325X usb2.0 combo drive. When I plug the drive in it is automatically recognized as /dev/sda. I am able to manually mount the drive eject it and view the contents of any cd or dvd i put into it from the desktop/cli wonderfully. However I cannot use it as a cd/dvd burner. It doesn't show up in xcdroast or k3b or even in Yast as a CDROM device. If I attempt to manually add the device /dev/sda or /media/cdrom (which is how I have it mounted) I get an error that the device cannot be found. I get the impression that the drive is only being recognized as a directory rather than a real CDROM device(if that makes sense) Most usb devices seem to be automounted such as my digital camera or usb2.0 mp3 player. These devices automatically show up in /media as something like usb-0002F0F721A84615:0:0:0p1 or Sony-DSC-0004A0BC4564683498..... What might be the problem here and how might I be able to correct it so I can burn CDs and DVDs? Thanks John
