I got lost of the supervisor password for my Toshiba notebook computer in
Toshiba Console. Can someone advise how can I restore or reset the
password.

Thanks,

Scott

That's a tough one Scott. I think you might need to get back to the
manufacturer.

Thousands of laptops a year are stolen. I wonder how the thiefs get
hold of those passwords.

It depends on the laptop model. On a newer one, you need a USB device
that is normally only available at certain factory authorized service
centers. There are other ways of doing it on some older models.

I suspect many get binned, or stripped for the parts.

My home was burgled a few years back. The thiefs took, among other
things, two ancient laptops. One was a 386 machine running DOS, simply
used for incoming faxes. The other was a Win 95 machine that I just had
left in a corner. Even in those years, the resell value of these
machines was zilch. I think the theives just took them because laptops
are known to be expensive.
