Messed video on OpenSUSE 11 and HP N5495 Pavilion laptop Just trying to install OpenSUSE 11 from DVD onto my HPN5495 laptop and having some video issues with X once the installation is complete. Backup to swappable IDE? I've been given a couple of swappable (power off before caddy removal) IDE frames, and I'm thinking that one chassis and the two caddies (loaded with identical 200G+ drives) might make a tolerable backup system - simply back 'everything' up to one, swap them out the next day, backup, swap, and so on. Forking and subshells - Keeping the parent active I am finding this hard to find information on.. gnome-terminal and slrn and transparentcy I am trying out a new terminal to run in X. Instead of using aterm and wterm as terminal programs for their transparentcy, I am trying out gnome-terminal. Second GUI not working anymore I sometimes use `startx -- :1` and previously this would give me a second GUI on [CTRL][ALT][F8]. Now it exits the GUI and all I can do is log in again. 11.0 - unused desktop shortcuts. Hi, After installing 11.0, apparently desktop shortcuts from old suse 10.3 have been dragged along, even as i did a clean install.
