From: Hello on
Hello there,
I'm a Vista user and I'd like to switch to 16 colors. I've been using
this mode on xp until i got my vista copy. "List all modes" does not
have 16 colors anymore, and if you have any clue on how to move to
this, thank for ur help.

Even in XP, I think 16 colors is only available if you don't have the ATi
drivers installed. Right now with Catalyst 7.12 I see only 16-bit and 32-bit
in the drop-down menu. Even 256-colors is not available.

Vista wddm driver is on, d3d game and other opengl sotfware run very
fine with those wddm. I didn't go to Ati dot since i left XP BUT maybe
kept old drivers located on c:\ to do so. I doubt it anyway even i if
did upgrade on XP ! ! ! !

Could u please watch in the advance menu, card, list all modes:...
I'm also "installing"(?) latest wddm x1300/x1550. Keep in touch if u
have info

I'm using ATI Tray Tools with Cat 7.12 and have the option of 8 bit colour.

The real question is why anyone would want only 16 colours in this day and age?

It could be useful to someone with bad eyesight or if you had a machine
processing visual input from the monitor. With just 16 colors you
basically have a segmented image from the start.
