From: Neil Rutman on 10 May 2010 12:12 This is a new issue and was wondering if anyone here can help diagnose. When I record a midi part into computer from an external synth it is slightly delayed. Easy fix is to line up the new audio track with the midi track it was created with. This is also happening with giga track being fed into the machine via toslink. When I render softsynths this is not an issue. When I record anything with a mic this is not an issue. No new hardware or software for at least a couple of months. I removed and re-installed my echo layla 24 (hardware and drivers) as well as my midi interface (midisport) and uad2 card. WXP Sonar 8 Any thoughts? Thanks, Neil R
From: Steve_Karl on 10 May 2010 12:44 I'd check on G'bo's thought first. I think it's called midi offset and it's a tweak that is done in one of the .ini files. The "real forum" people will know exactly how what and where. Your giga tracks via toslink most likely aren't related to this but it would be great if the midi offset fixed that also. If you reinstalled your Gina24 then check your Console > Settings > GSIF > and make sure you're not running at too high of a buffer. I always run at 64 samples. This setting probably only effects your latency when triggering giga from a keyboard but it's good to know where it is set. From: Neil Rutman on 10 May 2010 13:41 Just to be more clear - when I record a midi part it is delayed. When I fix the delay on the midi track and then render to audio (ext synth) the rendered audio is also delayed. From: Steve_Karl on 10 May 2010 14:06 Everything used to work? Have you changed any settings in Sonar relating to sample rate? How long ago did it work for sure? Can you system restore to before the problem started? Can you duplicate this symptom in Reaper? Poly
