Fire away!

< "Well, since you claim you're quite an
< expert about The Other Side, I'm just
< wondering how we'll know for sure when
< we're dead."
<
For one thing, BillO, I guarantee you won't see God. Or
even the Devil. But you'll immediately see someone whom
you dearly loved during your time on earth, someone
who passed over before you.
<
It could be your mother, your father, one of your sons,
one of your daughters, maybe grandma, maybe grandpa,
perhaps a dear, dear friend.
<
"You'll get a hug, a warm embrace, and you'll probably
both be crying -- with tears of happiness.
<
"You'll be led to a place where many other of your loved
ones are -- members of your family, lots of old freinds
(some who had died decades before.
<
"Amazingly, they'll look just as you best remember them.
The ravages of old age havedisappeared, their illness
has vanished.
<
"Perhaps even more amazing, the leg that grandpa had
to have amputated when he was a young man injured
in the mines will be gone. He'll be as peppy and as bouncy
as a gung-ho Marine recruit.
<
"That elderly blind man who was so nice to you -- and you
to him -- will be there, but this time he's seeing 20-20.
<
What you won't see soon after you die is God (or The Devil,
for that matter).
<
And you surely won't see St. Peter or the Pearly Gates of
Heaven, same as you won't see the rusty-red gates of Hell.
<
You see, BillO, they don't exist. They are nothing more
than mythology, with capital M.
<
But make no mistake. YOU WILL BE JUDGED for the rotten,
contemptible things you may have done during your lifetime
on earth.
<
And, be assured, the price you'll pay will be even worse than
roasting in Hell.
<
See, you'll be deprived of the company of a loved one -- family
or friend -- and the heartbreak is unimaginable.
<
On the Other Side, BillO, your life will be an open book and
only then willt they become fully aware of the despicable
tricks you pulled against them personally and how they had
resulted in hardship for them when it certainly didn't have
to be.
<
It could've been something major or something as minor
as forcing mom or dad to enter a nursing home where they
didn't want to go -- knowing full well that they could've lived
out their twilight years in your home which is where they wanted
to be. You could have done it easily but it just wasn't convenient
for your lifestyle so you lied about the reasons for sending them
away..
<
Unfortunatley, BillO, you had no time for mom or dad in their
old age, and on The Other Side they'll remember it well.
<
As for sins of the world -- the ones we all commit -- they were
forgiven even before we were born. This was expected because,
heck, we're all -- or were --mortal.
<
If the Creator wanted us all to be saints, he'd have done so
when He created us in His image and likeness.
