Is there a simple way to have the TabControl automatically resize when
a datawindow is resized?

Never mind, I found the Owner Alignment option fullsize.

I do have another question.I had been using Classmate and the
TabControl seems slighlty different is there a more XP type of
TabControl, besides the default VO GUI?

we do a lot of things with tab controls and sub tabs etc... we use
tabcontrolplus and afhook for hot keys. disables tabs when active tab
has unsaved data etc etc

see www.tdoc.or.uk/5manual for how it all works.

default VO GUI seems so plain.
