From: rogerwithnell on 27 Dec 2005 13:32 I have built a new template which I would like to apply to all the pages in my site (150 pages) to replace the old template. Can I do this automatically, or do I have to apply the new template manually to each page? I am using DW MX v6.0.
From: Dimon_pg on 27 Dec 2005 13:43 Depends , you can replays old images with new images and use same name so all 150 just use the new images. Thats first way, second it depends if you are using some other template that Macromedia Made , i am not sure how can u change it but there is a solution . Other wise you shouldn?t make a 150 pages not even using any kind of PHP system .
From: CSI Bruce on 6 Jan 2006 19:31 You've almost got it. Actually, a template is a way for you to change parts of your pages, but only have to do it once instead of opening each individual page, making the changes then saving the changes then closing the page then opening the next page. For instance, say you create a template with 4 regions and one is editable. The editable region is where you would have each page's unique content (say it's a band web site; the editable region for the discography page would have their albums, the editable region for the bio page would have background information on the members, etc). The other regions would have the logo and navigation and maybe something else. Say you want to change the logo or add another page which would mean updating the navigation. Instead of opening each page, you would open the template, make the changes on that, save it (answer "yes" when DW asks if you would like to apply the changes to all attached pages) and you're done. Then all you have to do is upload the pages.
From: ninth_angle on 9 Jan 2006 19:22 I have created a page and saved it as a temple. Now I want to go about creating all the sub-pages (those where the content in the editable region has been chanced) When saving this modified page should i choose FILE | SAVE AS or FILE | SAVE ? If FILE | SAVE, a dialogue box opens asking me to give that subtemplate a name. I dont see the signifacance of this seeing as dreamweaver only stores one .dwt file for me to access. I thus have no access to the modified template page and dont know how to upload it to my server... thx!!
