Under Format, my "Text Direction" is grayed out.

Can someone suggest why and how can I "Ungray" it?

I have Word 2002, SP 3.

You can only change the direction of text in a table, a text box or a
frame.

That's the problem. I was trying to do it on a plain document. I'll create a
single column, single row table with not border. that should fix the
problem.
