From: Cameron Kaiser on 26 Sep 2006 21:28 (also posted to Homestead) Received from the Lantronix mailing list. If you haven't picked up a unit of the very useful UDS-10 and UDS-100 lines, the UDS-10 is being extended briefly before EOL but is being replaced by the UDS-1100, which will do exactly the same thing but has a new, faster CPU and RoHS compliance. The pricing change seems to be to encourage you to buy the new units. The UDS-10 and its relatives (UDS-10-01, UDS-100 and now the UDS-1100) are devices that look like modems to the Commodore, but allow you to "dial" IP addresses and ports directly over Ethernet. They are a well-designed commercially supported product for networking any computer with a serial port (including the user port and T232/SL), and work with just about any terminal program without special software. ----- Forwarded message from Mark Prowten ----- From: Mark Prowten <...> Subject: Important UDS Device Server Announcement Date: Mon, 25 Sep 2006 18:19:09 +0000 September 22, 2006 Dear Valued UDS Customer, Per our recent Product Change Notice (PCN-049, 5/23/06) Lantronix will no longer accept orders for the discontinued UDS100 Device Server(tm). Well, I got both of mine cheaply used also, but it is nice that buying new is still going to be an option. I suspect Lantronix sells more than a few of these to old system enthusiasts, not just to "corporate" applications. -- Cameron Kaiser * ckaiser(a)floodgap.com * posting with a Commodore 128 personal page: http://www.armory.com/%7Espectre/ ** Computer Workshops: games, productivity software and more for C64/128! ** ** http://www.armory.com/%7Espectre/cwi/ **
