From: Peter Andersen on 5 Jan 2006 06:34 Hi I am doing some longtome multitrack recordings on a PC with to Hoontech 10ch soundcards/boxes. My problem is that I am using Adobe Audition and it is NOT capable of recording all those tracks. After 30-60minutes it freezes. What is the best and most STABLE multitrack recording program? I am using Audition to edit the whole thing with - so it is only the recording part I need to fond a better solution to than Audition. Please help.... Peter

I guarantee that your computer is the problem. It is not stable. It crashes when you record in Audition. Recording 16 tracks is not a difficult task for a computer if it's the right computer and it's set up properly. But no two are the same so there's no really good troubleshooting procedure that covers all the bases. If you aren't hung up on high sample rates, you might want to pick up a used Mackie MDR24/96 and use that for your tracking. Because the hardware and software are tightly integrated, it only fails when something breaks. Of course you'll never be able to upgrade the capability, but you'll have fewer problems. It's your life.

Did you verify that your "Temporary Folders" (as listed in menu "Options" --> "Settings" --> "System Tab") have enough free space to hold 60 minutes times 10 tracks wave data? SM

This is not the problem. I have 100GB on both Primary and Secondary temp. Please notice that it is not the PC that crashes - it is only Audition that freezes. Peter |
