Prev: why does the most simple animation come out choppy?

From: Ognar on 22 Apr 2008 21:46 What I want to do should be simple. I have a simple shape with a 2 pt stroke around it (no problem there). Inside the shape I want to add a line that is thicker (let's say 5pt). This is where the problem comes in. When I add this thicker line, the ends of it become rounded and stick out beyond the edge of the shape. Here is a link to an example. http://www.mcassey.com/images/flash_corners.png I am relatively new to Flash, but have been using other adobe products for a long time. I have hunted around the setting for hours trying different cap options, join settings, sharp corners, lines to fills, etc. Am I missing something simple, or is this actually harder than It should be? please help. -Ognar
From: kglad on 23 Apr 2008 00:54 in the properties panel for the line tool, rectangle tool etc check the "cap" setting.
From: Ognar on 23 Apr 2008 08:43 I tried all the different cap settings. I would have thought square or none would have done it, but when the line connects to the square, the corners revert to round for some reason.
From: kglad on 23 Apr 2008 14:18 looks like an anomaly (or bug). draw your line (but don't connect to the ends of the rectangle) and you'll get squared corners. then move into position next the rectangle border and they'll remain squared.

I was hoping it wouldn't come to that, but thanks for the help. If anyone knows if this behavior is different in CS3, please let me know. - Ognar |
