No still behaves the same way. Finally found the following sentence in
Thoth's user guide:

"Note that the contents of a thread (what articles belong to a given
thread) is still always determined by the Subject line. This is done
intentionally so that when a poster changes the subject of a reply a
new article thread is created."

I guess that's that. I wish there was a user-selectable choice here,
but there doesn't seem to be.

What would that option be? Thread with others that have different
subjects? I'm not clear on what you want it to do, I guess.
