Does anyone know why the new version of Thunderbird is only being
offered in the official Slackware "repositories" for Slackware 13.1 and
-current? I looked through the changelogs for 13.0 and 13.1 but found no
explanation.

I don't know the explanation, but I do know that the TB3 package from
-current works just fine on 13.0 (so I'm sure it would also on 13.1).
