A friend prepared an .fla file for me, and when I first opened it in Flash CS3,
it looked normal. I don't know what I could have done, but suddenly the left
part of the timeline that shows the layer name and visibility and lock icons is
now showing all the way to the right of the Flash window. The layer names are
showing on the left side of the window and the visibility/lock icons are on the
right side of the screen, and the frames and scrubber are not showing at all.
There is no scroll bar allowing any way to scroll to the right. So I've clicked
something or there is something wrong with the file, although it tests fine,
and I REALLY need help with this one.

at the upper right just below the X to close your file (not to close flash) is
a button you can click. when you click it you'll see a menu that has, among
other things, placement. mouseover placement and tick above document. fixed?

Thanks for the suggestion. I've been into that menu, and position is set to Top
of Document. I didn't see anything that said "fixed."

I was hoping it would be something like that, but alas, I have tried every
setting, and it has not affected the document. I appreciate your reponse,
however.

that's the wrong location. just below the timeline area at the top of the stage area is the button you want.

I have "Above Document" checked. I do not, as I said, see "mouseover placement
"or anything about "fixed" anything.

Then if I look below the timeline, the only other button I can click that
might have any relevance is Workspace. And nothing in there helps either.

And it's not just with this document, it's for all documents now. I tried to
create a new document, and it's doing the same thing. I wish I could show you
what it looks like.
