What?!?!? Is that some bizarre clause in their license, that you have
to give them more money if you make some from their product?

No bizarre clauses, it's straight up. It's a commercial use license vs.
home studio (for-fun?) license. See the Reaper site. Commercial licenses
are currently $225.

I was just giving John a bad time since he said his Reaper mix stacked up
well with the commercial ones he heard. Selling songwriting using Reaper
mixes is probably not in the commercial license category :-)
