From: James Allsopp on 24 Apr 2008 14:00 Sorry about the stupidity of the next question; how to upgrade to 2.6.22, I'm currently running stable. I looked at doing it manually ( download source etc.) but thought someone might know a quicker more debian way, like using apt-get. I did google it, but got a lot of hits about moving from 2.4 to 2.6. Thanks for the info, much appreciated. The instructions to use backports.org /should/ be on the website, but this is from my sources.list: deb http://www.backports.org/debian etch-backports main contrib non-free -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-REQUEST(a)lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". From: James Allsopp on 4 May 2008 11:10 I can't get a kernel image more recent than 2.6.21, I've tried apt-get -t unstable install kernel-image but it says I've the most recent kernel. I've just upgraded to lenny, but this hasn't helped. Also, using apt-cache search I couldn't find any information about the compiled modules. Wondering if I wouldn't just be better off downloading an updated source and trying to do it manually. From: n0bert0 on 4 May 2008 12:50 Hi James, add this to /etc/apt/sources.list: deb http://http.us.debian.org/debian/ lenny contrib non-free main deb http://http.us.debian.org/debian/ unstable contrib non-free main and 2.6.22 kernel should be available cheers James Allsopp wrote: > I can't get a kernel image more recent than 2.6.21, I've tried > apt-get -t unstable install kernel-image > but it says I've the most recent kernel. > > I've just upgraded to lenny, but this hasn't helped. > > Also, using apt-cache search I couldn't find any information about the > compiled modules. > > Wondering if I wouldn't just be better off downloading an updated source > and trying to do it manually. > > Jim > > quim wrote: >> Alo >> >> Don't need need to compile drivers, but upgrade to kernel 2.6.22 >> >> >> Install the RT2x00 wireless network drivers -loadable kernel modules for >> wireless network cards using Ralink RT2x00 chips. >> >> something like rt2x00-modules-2.6.22-2-686 >> >> Install wireless tools >> >> Install RutilT which is GTK config >> >> Run RutilT >> >> >> Does this help? >> >> >> Quim >> >> >> >> >> >> >> > > >
