From: jeff on 2 Dec 2007 13:58 I recently posted this same problem. I am not able to get any sound out of my Tungsten E. I solved the previous problem about photos, but I have no sound of any kind now. Only thing I did was to download new software. INFO says OS Software v.5.2.1, and Sounds & Alerts says V.1.0.1 Any ideas? jeff Bob Pownall wrote: > I recently bought a T|E2. > > For some odd reason, the sound comes and goes, apparently at random. > (I'm referring to the system sound and the alarm sound. Bad speaker contacts. The E series has a very defective speaker contact design that is prone to this problem. As to fixing it so that it stays fixed? I have no idea. My two Tungsten Es were hopeless. I've had less trouble with my Tungsten E2. -- Russell
From: jeff on 3 Dec 2007 18:09 So you recommend the Tungsten E2 ? I have seem them online for $ 150 + freight. Do they use the same contacts, stylus, and power adaptor as the Tungsten E ? jeff Russell E. I liked the T|E so much that I bought another one that I keep in the freezer until my current one finally goes 100% failure. It does take a little skill, and some REALLY thin wire (I used enamel coated transformer wire). I think I posted about this about a year ago or more. Hey, here is the link to it! http://groups.google.com/group/comp.sys.palmtops.pilot/msg/e66839966f03c080?as_umsgid=560ia1591dl609mf8flf1qftleulh35h3t(a)4ax.com Good luck. Thanks. Will therefore keep the old one as a backup. The E2 uses a different charger connector. Sorry. Still...it has really good battery life (much better than the E); you may find that while travelling you can wait until an AC outlet is handy before charging it. -- Russell
